Director, Agency & Advertiser Relations

The Director, Agency & Advertiser Relations will advance the OPA mission through strategic outreach and tactical programs. This position provides immediate visibility and impact in advancing the business interests of leading online media brands within the advertising and marketing community.

The Director, Agency & Advertiser Relations will be accountable for developing and managing relationships with key digital media agencies and advertisers in order to effectively communicate the value that OPA’s members provide to online advertisers. The ideal candidate must have a strong knowledge of the online advertising space, the buying and selling process and the agency ecosystem and must have established relationships in priority agencies and advertisers. This role requires a persuasive, diplomatic and exceptional communicator and presenter who is adept at selling intangibles. The role also requires an excellent listener who can synthesize and report on insights and feedback and make recommendations for how to respond to agency perceptions and issues.

This position is based in New York.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evangelize the value of high-quality, premium online publishers within the online advertising community
  • Solidify existing relationships and develop new relationships within targeted agencies and leading national advertisers through a high volume of face-to-face meetings, ongoing outreach and communications
  • Develop and execute relationship-building strategies aimed at increasing opportunities to engage with advertisers and agencies
  • Contribute to development of programs, including research, designed to communicate OPA messaging and drive advertiser & agency engagement with OPA & its members
  • Collaborate with OPA Member sales teams to identify and gather relevant best practices, case studies, research and other marketing tools to enhance presentation and messaging to the advertising community
  • Proactively communicate relevant industry insights and information from the agency and marketing community to OPA management and OPA members through regular meeting reports
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service in responding quickly and thoroughly to requests for information from the advertising community and from OPA members
  • Leverage attendance at industry events to maintain presence in the advertising community
  • Identify and maintain a target list in database

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-7 years in online sales or sales development, media buying or planning, or interactive advertising experience
  • Current established contacts and relationships at key digital media buying agencies and advertisers
  • Demonstrated excellence in business relationship-building skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple requests concurrently
  • Ability to think strategically from a marketing perspective
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have proficiency with Excel, PPT and Office software programs and ability to learn database program
  • Some travel

Director, Market Development

Vice President, Market Development

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is an externally-focused role with responsibility for ad agency and marketer outreach that requires an experienced professional who has a thorough understanding of the online media and interactive advertising landscape. The Director will be an evangelist and will utilize persuasive, creative and diplomatic skills to effectively position the OPA’s members to the advertising community. This role requires an exceptional communicator and presenter as well as an excellent listener who can synthesize and report on insights and feedback and make recommendations for how to respond to agency perceptions and issues.

Specifically, this position will carry the following responsibilities:
  • Identify and maintain a target list, initiate contact and develop key ad agency and marketer relationships in order to execute a strategic approach to broaden the OPA’s presence in priority advertiser and agency marketing organizations
  • Utilize multiple channels to expertly and properly represent OPA in the advertising community, including a high volume of face-to-face meetings, phone calls, email, and conference attendance
  • Partner with the VP of Marketing to identify and leverage additional channels including the web, partnerships, etc. to extend OPA’s reach to the agency and marketing community.
  • Participate in the development of materials and methods to communicate OPA key messages, including research, to agencies and marketers
  • Proactively communicate insights and information from the agency and marketing community to management and other team members through regular meeting reports
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service in responding quickly and thoroughly to requests for information from the advertising community and from OPA members  
  • Attend industry trade shows and local events to meet clients and cultivate relationships
  • Maintain industry knowledge and support dissemination of knowledge among OPA staff
  • Demonstrate outstanding organization, preparation, and public speaking abilities

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5-7 years interactive advertising, online media or sales experience
  • Contacts and relationships at key agencies
  • Demonstrated excellence in business relationship-building skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple requests concurrently
  • Ability to think strategically from a marketing perspective
